Siem Reap Water Festival Draws Over 368,000 Visitors, Driven by Domestic Surge
AKP Phnom Penh, November 07, 2025 -- Siem Reap province welcomed a total of 368,246 tourists during the three-day celebration of the annual Water Festival (Bon Om Touk), marking a 5.75 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The surge in visitors was largely fueled by domestic travel. The number of Cambodian domestic tourists and local residents reached approximately 358,600, an increase of 7.04 percent year-on-year.
Conversely, the province registered a significant drop in international arrivals. Only 9,646 foreign visitors were recorded during the festival, a 27.08 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
The festivities, which took place from Nov. 4 to 6, 2025, were held at the Royal Residence Park and along the Siem Reap River.
The Siem Reap Provincial Administration, in collaboration with the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (Siem Reap Branch), organised a diverse array of vibrant activities to stimulate the local economy and foster a festive atmosphere.
Key attractions included: The “My Home, Siem Reap Friendship Boat Race”; Traditional drum performances; Exhibition booths; Khmer boxing matches; Lakhon Bassac (traditional theatre) and other entertainment programmes.
The provincial administration noted that the boat rides and riverside market programmes along the Siem Reap River will remain active through Nov. 8, 2025.
