Japan Supports Emergency Response and Rural Health Services in Cambodia

The Japanese Government has provided US$183,588 in grant to the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue, Ministry of Interior and the Borkeo Referral Hospital, under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, KUSANONE
The Grant Contracts were signed here on Oct. 9 by Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. UENO Atsushi, and representatives of the two recipient organisations.
According to a news release from the Japanese Embassy in Cambodia, the grants will support the “Project for the Procurement of Secondhand Ambulance in 1 City and 2 Provinces in Cambodia” to be carried out by the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue, and the “Project for the Installation of Medical Equipment” to be implemented by the Borkeo Referral Hospital in Rattanakiri province.
“We expect that these grants will contribute to strengthening emergency response to fires in Phnom Penh, Kandal province, and Preah Sihanouk province, as well as improving medical services in Rattanakiri province,” stated the embassy.
