Cambodia Announces 21 Days of Public Holidays for 2026
AKP Phnom Penh, September 5, 2025 -- The Royal Government of Cambodia has announced a total of 21 days of official public holidays for 2026, a reduction of one day from the current year.
A sub-decree signed by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on Friday morning confirms the new holiday schedule. Notably, the Khmer Traditional New Year celebrations will be limited to three days.
The first public holiday of the year is Universal New Year's Day (January 1), while the last is Cambodia Peace Day (December 29), a newly established holiday by a Royal Government Sub-decree on January 1, 2024.
Cambodia Peace Day was created to honor the Cambodian people's desire for peace and to commemorate the complete end of the war and the establishment of full peace and national unity.
This was achieved through the "Win-Win" policy on December 29, 1998.
The holiday serves as a tribute to the sacrifices of Cambodian heroes and heroines who fought for national reconciliation and unity. It is also intended to educate present and future generations about the devastating consequences of war and national division, encouraging them to value peace and work together to promote a "Culture of Peace" throughout the country.
