Cambodia’s Agricultural Exports Up 27 Percent in First Semester
AKP Phnom Penh, July 11, 2025 --
Cambodia exported more than 7.8 million tonnes of agricultural products during the first half of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 27.66 percent, according to a report from the General Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).
These exports generated over US$2.87 billion in revenue from crop products.
The total export volume included approximately 4.2 million tonnes of non-rice agricultural products, 3.1 million tonnes of paddy rice, and 380,000 tonnes of milled rice.
In terms of revenue, non-rice products contributed more than US$1.926 billion, while paddy rice brought in over US$638 million, and milled rice accounted for more than US$307 million.
The report identified China, Vietnam, and Thailand as the top importers of Cambodia’s agricultural products.
H.E. Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for the MAFF, noted that Cambodia's agricultural exports are now largely conducted through official channels, a shift away from the previous reliance on informal routes.
“These results reflect the success of opening new markets and boosting competitiveness, which has helped agricultural products meet export-quality standards,” he said.
To support sustainable growth in the sector, the Royal Government of Cambodia has launched a new strategic policy to transform agriculture from subsistence-based to commercial farming. The goal is to raise farmers’ incomes through the production of value-added products.
As part of this policy, the government has deployed hundreds of agricultural officials across communes nationwide to reinforce human resources in the sector.
These officials are tasked with providing technical support to farmers, forming agricultural cooperatives, strengthening production chains, and advising on cost reduction strategies.
