Tourism Revenue Tops 1 Trillion Baht in Early 2025
AKP Phnom Penh, May 20, 2025 —
Thailand has reported strong growth in tourism revenue during the first four and a half months of 2025, driven by a surge in visitors from long-haul markets such as Europe and Russia. Government data released today (May 19) shows total tourism revenue reached more than 1 trillion baht from January 1 to May 14, including over 600 billion baht generated by international tourists.
Authorities are working to attract more high-spending travelers, placing emphasis on sectors such as health and wellness, yacht tourism, and sports and entertainment. These segments are seen as important for improving the overall quality of tourism earnings and supporting sustainable economic growth.
Thailand welcomed 13.12 million international visitors during the period, generating 621 billion baht in revenue. Domestic travel also remained strong, with 76.95 million trips contributing over 413 billion baht. Long-haul arrivals saw the largest increase, rising 17 percent to 5.02 million visitors and generating 319 billion baht, up 20 percent from the previous year.
The government is also expanding transportation infrastructure to strengthen international connectivity and attract more visitors from global markets. Officials say the recovery shows growing confidence in Thailand’s services, safety, and tourism readiness.
Thailand hopes to maintain its momentum as a year-round global destination by positioning the tourism industry as a key driver of stable, long-term economic growth, with authorities stressing that all sectors are collaborating to keep this progress moving forward.
