H.E. Xi Jinping’s State Visit to Cambodia to Boost Bilateral Relations to a Higher Level
AKP Phnom Penh, April 17, 2025 --
H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, will begin shortly his two-day state visit to Cambodia, after concluding his visit to Malaysia, the second leg of his three-country Southeast Asia tour.
“This will be President Xi Jinping’s second visit to Cambodia in nine years. We believe that President Xi’s visit will enrich the China-Cambodia community with a shared future with new features of the new era and enable the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to produce more positive outcomes and bring more benefits to the two peoples,” emphasised Mr. Lin Jian, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, in a recent regular press conference.
Cambodia is China’s traditionally friendly neighbour and iron-clad friend, said the spokesperson, adding that under the strategic guidance of their leaders, the building of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future has entered a new era featuring high quality, high level and high standard.
“In recent years, China and Cambodia have continued to deepen strategic mutual trust, enrich the ‘Diamond Hexagon’ cooperation framework, make steady progress in the building of the Industrial Development Corridor and the ‘Fish and Rice Corridor’, achieve fruitful outcomes in cooperation across the board, and all this delivers tangibly for the two peoples,” he underlined.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the visit, H.E. Xi Jinping is scheduled to have separate Royal Audiences with His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, at the Royal Palace. He will meet with Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and also with Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.
“This is a milestone visit which will further cement the traditional relations of friendship built by successive leaders of both countries. It will add great significance to the ironclad friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations,” the ministry stressed.
During the visit, many documents are expected to be signed to promote cooperation in various sectors.
