Angkor Sankranta 2025 was officially kicked off in Siem Reap provincial city this afternoon under the presidency of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Themed “Smiles for the New Year Celebration,” the Angkor Sankranta 2025 festivities will span six key locations: the Angkor Wat Temple complex, the Royal Residence Garden, Siem Reap River, King's Road, Pub Street, and Angkor-Gyeongju.
The event offers a diverse range of entertainment and cultural experiences, including "Angkor's Heartbeat" Show, “My Village", Ok Chaktrang (Khmer Chess) Competitions, Angkor Sankranta Parade, Ancient Khmer Mixed Martial Arts Demonstrations, Traditional and Popular Dance Performances, “Angkor Smile Garden”, “Let’s Play Water” (Tos Tos Leng Teuk), "Moni Harotey" Garden, Siem Reap River Market; Ox and Buffalo Cart Races, Srang Preah (Buddha bathing ceremony), and so on.
Since the first Angkor Sankranta in 2013—when Siem Reap province welcomed 170,000 tourists—the event has grown significantly. By 2023, the 10th anniversary of Angkor Sankranta, the province recorded over 2 million visitors, generating more than US$126 million in revenue.
Over the years, Angkor Sankranta has become a major driver of tourism in Siem Reap, offering visitors a vibrant experience of Khmer arts, culture, and heritage.
This year’s Angkor Sankranta is expected to be on a larger scale and more unique than previous editions, further strengthening Siem Reap’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination.
