Cambodia, China Deepen Media Ties at Joint-Interview Exchange Forum

Cambodian and Chinese media outlets convened here this morning a significant Joint-Interview Exchange Forum, organised by China’s People’s Daily, marking a step forward in strengthening collaboration between the two nations' media sectors.
The event was presided over by Cambodian Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra, H.E. Ek Sam Ol, President of Cambodia-China Friendship Association, and H.E. Jiang Nan, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Cambodia.
Addressing the forum’s opening ceremony, H.E. Minister of Information expressed his profound gratitude to the People’s Daily for orchestrating this "meaningful forum," highlighting its role in bolstering media exchanges between Cambodia and China.
Reflecting on the enduring friendship between the two countries, H.E. Minister underscored the deep roots established in 1958 under the leadership of the late King of Cambodia, Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, and continued by former Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen. This long-standing partnership has flourished under the strategic frameworks of the "Diamond Cooperation" and the "Community of Shared Future," fostering strong political trust, economic growth, industrial partnerships, and vibrant cultural exchanges. He affirmed that Cambodia-China relations have entered a "golden era" characterised by mutual respect and shared progress.
Currently, he continued, bilateral cooperation extends across various domains, including politics, diplomacy, trade, culture, and significantly, media and information. The forum serves as a prime example of the deepening collaboration between Cambodian and Chinese media, facilitating crucial exchanges in journalism, broadcasting, and the evolving landscape of digital transformation.
H.E. Neth Pheaktra conveyed his profound gratitude to the Chinese government and media institutions for their unwavering support in Cambodia’s development, particularly in the areas of media capacity-building, technical assistance, and vital training programs.
The minister expressed strong confidence that Cambodia-China cooperation will continue to flourish, bringing significant benefits to both nations and their respective peoples.
For his part, H.E. Ek Sam Ol stressed the need for Cambodia and China to further strengthen their solidarity, especially in the current context, and encouraged their media institutions to continue their media exchanges, improve the quality of their news items, and promote creative content creation in order to further deepen the mutual understanding between the two countries.
Chinese Embassy’s chargé d’affaires H.E. Jiang Nan spoke highly the pivotal role of media in boosting the relations between both nations, stressing that through media, the world learn more about the Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future.
