Cambodia Attends 3rd LDC Future Forum in Zambia
AKP Phnom Penh, April 03, 2025 --
A delegation of Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment let by H.E. Ms. Meas Chanthyda, Under Secretary of State, attended the third LDC Future Forum under the theme “Enhancing Resilience: Innovative Solutions for Strengthening LDCs Against Systemic Shocks.”
The forum was held from April 1-3, 2025 in Lusaka, the Republic of Zambia, bringing together representatives from 54 countries, including approximately 250 participants from least developed countries (LDCs).
The opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.
Cambodia is a member of the LDCs group and is vulnerable to climate change, which has significantly impacted its economic sector. A joint study conducted by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Finance estimates that climate change could reduce Cambodia’s GDP by 2.5 percent by 2030 and by 9.8 percent by 2050.
Despite these challenges, Cambodia has made significant progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The country remains committed to working closely with fellow LDCs to promote sustainable development and economic resilience.
