Thailand Sees 8.83% Surge in Foreign Tourist Arrivals

The number of international visitors to Thailand continues to rise, highlighting the growing economic significance of the tourism industry.
According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand welcomed 6.82 million foreign tourists in the first two months of 2025, reflecting an 8.83% increase compared to the same period last year. This influx generated approximately 333.9 billion baht in tourism revenue, marking an 18.64% year-over-year increase and reinforcing the sector’s critical role in driving the Thai economy.
Chinese tourists remain the largest group, accounting for over 1.03 million arrivals during this period. They are followed by visitors from Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, and India, underscoring China’s continued importance to Thailand’s tourism industry.
As of March 17th, the cumulative number of tourists for the year reached 8.29 million, generating about 405.9 billion baht in revenue. The top ten source countries for these visitors were China, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, India, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and Taiwan.
The Thai government has confirmed that the country’s tourism sector is growing steadily and safely. Ongoing security measures and support systems are in place to assist international travelers, and the public is encouraged to remain confident in the stability of the Thai economy. With continued efforts to boost the industry’s long-term sustainability, tourism is expected to remain a key driver of economic growth for the country.
