AKP Kampong Chhnang, March 10, 2025 --
Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, presided over the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony of various newly completed facilities at Attvear Leu pagoda, located in Trapeang Chan commune, Boribo district, Kampong Chhnang province, on Mar. 10.
The event was attended by the provincial leaders, Buddhist monks as well as local officials, students, and a large number of residents.
During the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal highlighted the significant contributions made by the Royal Government and the local community to the development of the above-said pagoda.
The newly inaugurated facilities include a new road, temple gates, paved courtyards, fencing, water wells, restrooms, and solar-powered lighting systems.
These achievements, he noted, were made possible through the generous support and unwavering faith of both local and overseas Buddhist devotees and philanthropists.
In his address, Samdech Moha Montrei Kuy Sophal emphasised the Royal Government’s commitment to promoting Buddhism as the state religion while respecting and supporting the practice of other faiths.
He stated that Cambodia fully guarantees freedom of religion or belief for all citizens. Temples and religious institutions, he added, serve as vital centres for spiritual development, social education, cultural preservation, healthcare, and moral guidance.
They also play a crucial role in fostering national unity, peace, and socio-economic progress. The government remains steadfast in preventing the commercialisation of religion, combating discrimination, and ensuring harmony among all religious communities.
Furthermore, the Deputy Prime Minister urged local authorities to prioritise the delivery of high-quality public services and to remain attentive to the needs of the people. He called on citizens to adhere to traffic laws, exercise caution while driving, and avoid drug abuse, which poses a severe threat to individuals, families, and society as a whole.
He particularly underlined the importance of protecting youth and children from the dangers of narcotics, ensuring that moments of joy and merit-making do not turn into tragedy.
The ceremony concluded with Deputy Prime Minister Kuy Sophal and other dignitaries cutting the ribbon to officially inaugurate the newly constructed temple and other facilities at Attvear Leu pagoda.
