MoWRAM Discusses Water Resource Management with ADB and AIIB
AKP Phnom Penh, February 13, 2025 --
Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology H.E. Thor Chetha received here on Feb. 13 a courtesy call from delegations of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to discuss cooperation on water resource management.
The delegation from the ADB mission team was led by Mr. Ryutaro Takaku and the AIIB delegation was headed by Mr. Ronald Muana.
The ADB and AIIB mission in Cambodia, lasting from Feb. 3 to 17, is to launch the Integrated Water Resources Management Project (IWRMP). The project is carried out from this month onward at two irrigation system areas – Kbal Hong in Pursat province and Kanghot in Battambang province.
In the meeting, H.E. Minister expressed gratitude to the ADB and AIIB for their significant contributions to Cambodia’s socio-economic development, especially their cooperation in modernising infrastructure engineering in the context of climate change and global warming, in line with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Pentagonal Strategy, Phase 1.
H.E. Thor Chetha also expressed his strong belief in the support and partnership with ADB and AIIB, contributing to Cambodia’s development in various sectors.
He also affirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation to promote more effective, sustainable and inclusive management and development of the water resources sector for the sustainable development and socio-economic growth of Cambodia.
