AKP Phnom Penh, February 04, 2025 --
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received here at the Peace Palace this morning a delegation of the Research Commission on the Secrets of Khmer Ancestral Martial Arts led by Senior Minister H.E. Dr. Thong Khon.
In response to the progress report on the research of Khmer martial arts presented by H.E. Thong Khon, also Chairman of the Research Commission on the Secrets of Khmer Ancestral Martial Arts, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said this research must be accurate and clear based on historical evidence, as this is the most important official document that compiles Khmer ancient martial arts.
At the same time, the Premier also emphasised that the commission must study and clearly identify each type of martial arts in order to save the lost and endangered ones, as well as to preserve the Khmer ancient martial arts that are currently developing.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet encouraged the commission to increase the dissemination of the richness of Khmer ancient martial arts.
H.E. Thong Khon said the research has been being conducted based on intangible and tangible sources, including living human heritage, manuscripts, artifacts, and inscriptions carved on ancient temples’ walls, and on natural forces such as ancient tattoos.
At the same time, H.E. Thong Khon also briefed the Prime Minister on some preparations for the 2nd Khmer Mixed Martial Arts Competition to be held at the end of this year.
Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister also encouraged the commission to organise the competition procedures better and encourage wider participation from all types of Khmer martial arts so that the Cambodian people can understand more about Khmer ancient arts.
