Cambodia’s Minister of Information H.E. Neth Pheaktra has encouraged officials of the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Information Department to serve as a strong Secretariat for the provincial administration in the field of information and public opinion. 

He urged them to remain vigilant in verifying false information and to swiftly counter and prevent the spread of fake news on social media that could impact stability, public order, and security in the province and across the country. 

The minister made these remarks during a meeting on Jan. 30 afternoon where he extended his greetings and presented honorary medals and certificates of appreciation to the leadership and officials of the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Information Department in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra encouraged the department’s information and public relations teams to continue producing and disseminating more news highlighting the province’s potential. This, he said, would provide the public with comprehensive information while also countering misinformation. 

H.E. Minister urged them to focus on producing positive content that showcases the achievements of the provincial administration and the efforts of relevant institutions in serving the people across all sectors. He also highly praised the department for its significant achievements in 2024, particularly in managing information and public relations within the province.

He acknowledged their efforts in maintaining order in the media sector and strengthening adherence to journalistic ethics and professional standards. Furthermore, H.E. Neth Pheaktra commended all officials for their active participation in producing and disseminating information, as well as their role in educating the public on various issues.

On the occasion, the minister also advised the leadership and officials of the department to adhere to the principles of proactiveness, engagement, and responsiveness in fulfilling their duties. He emphasised the need for strengthening communication, media management, and effective information response, positioning the department as a key Secretariat for the provincial administration in information and public relations affairs.
