Cambodian NA President Expresses Condolences Following Deadly Earthquake in China
AKP Phnom Penh, January 10, 2025 --
Samdech Maha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia, has extended her sincere condolences over the recent powerful earthquake in Southwest China.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives, extensive destruction of infrastructure and property, and displacement of families caused by the earthquake that struck the Xizang Autonomous Region on 7 January 2025,” she wrote in her condolence message to H.E. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.
“On behalf of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I extend my deepest condolences to you, and through you, to the bereaved families who lost loved ones, and those affected by this natural disaster,” she added.
“At this moment of sorrow, we stand in unwavering solidarity with you and the Chinese people during this challenging time. We would like to extend our wishes for a swift and resilient recovery from this natural disaster,” read the message dated Jan. 10.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region early this week, leaving hundreds dead and injured.
