PM Calls for Strict Measures Against COVID-19
AKP Phnom Penh, February 22, 2021 --
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has instructed all competent authorities to tighten the preventive measures against the COVID-19.
According to his voice message shared this evening, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the public and private schools in Phnom Penh and Kandal province have to be closed down for at least two weeks.
Moreover, the Premier appealed to the public to postpone weddings and social activities or reduce to the maximum the number of participants.
State and private institutions are also required to delay all meetings or hold online meetings instead.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed that economic activities such as factories, enterprises, restaurants, etc. can operate as usual, but health preventive measures against COVID-19 have to be tightened.
At the same time, the Prime Minister called on all people residing in the province not to come to Phnom Penh for the time being so as to let the authorities to tackle the current problem.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that the Feb. 20 Community Event is much more serious than that of Nov. 3 and Nov. 28 as the number of the confirmed cases from that event rose up to nearly 100 cases within only three days, the highest record since the first case detected in country in late January 2020.
