Cambodia Exports Almost 700.000 Tonnes of Milled Rice in 2020, Earning Some US$540 Million

A total of 690.829 tonnes of Cambodian milled rice have been exported to foreign markets in 2020, an increase of 11.40 percent compared to the previous year.
The figures were shared by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in a recent report, stressing that the country earned nearly US$540 million from the rice export.
Cambodia’s milled rice was shipped to 60 countries around the world, including China, 24 countries in the European Union, six countries in ASEAN, and 29 other countries, and 76 companies engaged in the exports, it added.
China was the biggest market purchasing 289,439 tonnes, or 41.90 percent of the total milled rice exports, followed by the European Union, 203,791 tonnes or 29.50 percent; ASEAN countries, 86,899 tonnes or 12.58 percent; and other destinations, 110,700 tonnes or 16.02 percent, pointed out the report.
At the same time, the Kingdom exported 2,893,750 tonnes of paddy rice, generating almost US$725 million as income.
