Angkor Ultra Trail 2021 Cancelled
AKP Phnom Penh, December 30, 2020 --
Cambodia has decided to cancel the adventure marathon at Siem Reap province so-called Angkor Ultra Trail 2021 due to the COVID-19 threat.
The cancelation was announced yesterday by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), adding that the sixth Angkor Ultra Trail 2021 was planned for January.
According to the secretary general, the 128 kilometre race has attracted many participants, especially foreign tourists from Europe since it was first introduced five years ago.
The fifth race in January this year attracted 1,300 runners from 45 countries across the world, and it included different distances from 16 to 128 kilometres, passing various attractions such as temples, villages and forests.
Cambodia earlier also cancelled and postponed the Angkor International Half Marathon, the Khmer Empire Full Marathon and the Phnom Penh Half Marathon due to the same concern of possible COVID-19 spread.
