Cambodia Expects More Medals from 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam
AKP Phnom Penh, December 12, 2020 --
Cambodia expects to earn more medals from the upcoming 2021 SEA Games to be hosted by Vietnam in November next year.
The optimism was shared recently by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Cambodian SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), justifying that Cambodia has many potential sports including Petanque, Vovinam, Taekwondo, Jujitsu, and so on for the success during the tournament.
There will be 40 kinds of sports and approximately 500 subjects in the upcoming SEA Games, and Cambodia has opted for 30 kinds of sports for the competitions, continued H.E. Vath Chamroeun.
The CAMSOC secretary general, however, floated some concerns related to COVID-19 crisis that could make it difficult for Cambodian athletes to get trained and prepared.
In 2019, Cambodia won 4 gold, 6 silver and 36 bronze medals from the 2019 SEA Games hosted by the Philippines making it ranked 8th among the 11th ASEAN countries.
