Cambodian PM to Attend UNGASS-31 on COVID-19 Pandemic

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will participate in the 31st Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic – UNGASS-31, at the level of Heads of State and Government.
The event will be held from Dec. 3-4, 2020 in New York via videoconference in the format of pre-recorded video statement, pointed out the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in a press release made public this evening.
Since the pandemic has cost many lives, disrupted the global economy, hindered the cross-border trade, damaged the international tourism, and affected the global health sector, the UNGASS-31 is aimed to galvanise the international communities’ joint actions to vanquish COVID-19 and mitigate its aftermath impacts, it underlined.
In his keynote statement, it added, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will emphasise the need for stronger commitment to pursue regional and global solidarity and unity while effective multilateralism within the framework of the United Nations and the World Health Organisation is indispensable for responding to the pandemic.
