The written examinations for Cambodia’s 2026 Upper Secondary School Examination, commonly known as the Baccalaureate, concluded on Tuesday after two days of testing, according to a press release from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS).

Held on Aug. 10-11, the examinations registered a total of 151,238 candidates, including 84,735 females. Of the total, 37,445 candidates were in the Science stream, including 22,193 females, while 113,793 were in the Social Science stream, including 62,542 females.

The examinations were conducted at 244 centres with 6,104 rooms nationwide. The Science stream was administered at 68 centres with 1,526 rooms, while the Social Science stream was held at 176 centres with 4,578 rooms.

A total of 33,747 proctors and other examination committee members were involved in the examination process nationwide, according to the MoEYS.

The Ministry said the examination process proceeded smoothly, calmly and in an orderly manner, with examination officials and relevant committees carrying out their duties and responsibilities with a high level of attention.

The process was also observed by the Anti-Corruption Unit, with cooperation from the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, health officials, security forces and relevant authorities at all levels.

The Ministry reported that 1,352 candidates, including 502 females, were absent, representing 0.89 percent of registered candidates. Among them, 1,147 were private candidates, including 407 females, while 205 were general education candidates, including 95 females.

A total of 267 candidates experienced health problems. Of these, 18 stopped taking the examinations, 65 continued taking the examinations separately, 66 had dengue fever and 10 had been involved in traffic accidents. In addition, 25 examination officials experienced health problems.

The Ministry also reported 12 cases involving the confiscation of prohibited electronic devices. Five cases involved candidates, including one pair of smart glasses connected to a mobile phone, one smartphone and three smartwatches.

The remaining seven cases involved examination committee members, including one smartphone and six smartwatches. The MoEYS will take action in accordance with the applicable regulations, it said.

The written examinations officially concluded at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 11. The candidates’ answer scripts and related examination documents were thoroughly checked and securely stored at provincial examination facilities before being prepared for transfer to Phnom Penh for the marking process.

Overall, the Ministry said the 2026 Upper Secondary School Examination was conducted in accordance with the principles of legality, fairness and transparency, producing an acceptable outcome and adhering to the principle of “Those who know will pass.”

As scheduled, the examination results are expected to be announced on Sept. 2, 2026, according to the Ministry.
